Pennsylvania State Police graduates 47 new troopers

The Pennsylvania State Police welcomed 47 new troopers following the graduation of the 176th Cadet Class at LCBC Manheim. The graduates completed 27 weeks of training at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.

Acting Commissioner Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens commended the group for their discipline and resilience. This graduation marks the sixth class to complete training since the state eliminated the college credit requirement for applicants in August 2023. Following that policy change, the department reported a 69 percent increase in applicants in 2025 compared to 2022.

To address staffing needs, the Shapiro-Davis Administration has secured funding for 16 cadet classes to train over 1,600 new troopers. The 2026-2027 state budget includes $16.2 million to support four additional classes, which are expected to train approximately 380 troopers. To date, 673 cadets have graduated under Governor Shapiro.
