Penápolis police investigate homicide of 17-year-old found in sugarcane field
Authorities in Penápolis, São Paulo, are investigating the homicide of 17-year-old Raissa de Almeida Gil, who used the social name Luan. The victim's body was discovered carbonized in a sugarcane field on Sunday morning.
Following a report of a fire in the area, the plantation owner and an employee used a water truck to extinguish the flames, after which they located the body. Forensic examinations revealed signs of violence to the neck and face, as well as indications that the body may have been dragged to the location. Investigators recovered items near the body, including a cell phone charger cable, a chain, and a flip-flop.
Raissa had reportedly disappeared during the early hours of Sunday after visiting friends the previous night. The Civil Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify suspects.
