Penrith City Council announces Cook Park upgrades and Cranebrook action plan
Penrith City Council has announced several community development initiatives for the St Marys and Cranebrook areas. Glascott has been appointed as the design and construction contractor for the Cook Park upgrade in St Marys. This multi-million-dollar project will revitalize the park’s main field with a synthetic playing surface, upgraded floodlighting, additional seating, and a refurbished grandstand. A new amenities building will also be constructed to support regional football growth. The project is funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program and the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program, with construction expected to begin in early 2027.
Additionally, the Council has officially adopted the Together in Cranebrook Neighbourhood Action Plan. Developed through community engagement involving over 2,500 participants, the plan outlines 15 actions across four focus areas: connection to First Nations culture, place-based sector coordination, recreation and activities, and community safety and belonging. The plan aims to strengthen local connections and wellbeing through initiatives such as culturally appropriate mentorships, community sector training, and bicycle safety investigations.
