Pensioner associations in Republika Srpska implement support measures
Pensioner associations in Republika Srpska are implementing various measures to support members facing economic challenges. In Prijedor, the local Association of Pensioners has established an agreement with a company from Sarajevo to allow members to purchase firewood in ten installments. Slobodan Brdar, president of the Prijedor association, noted that while the market prices remain high, the installment plan provides necessary relief for those unable to pay upfront. The association ensures quality by allowing members to inspect the wood before payments are processed through the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund of Republika Srpska.
On a broader scale, the Association of Pensioners of Republika Srpska has increased monthly membership fees to 5 KM. This change is expected to generate approximately 900,000 KM monthly, which is distributed to local associations to support families of deceased members, assist the sick, and cover administrative costs such as utilities and organizational meetings. Ratko Trifunović, president of the association, stated that these funds are also used to provide aid to local communities during emergencies.
