Pensioners end occupation of Risskov rehabilitation school

A group of approximately 10 to 12 pensioners has ended their occupation of the Rehabilitation School in Risskov, Aarhus. The protesters had occupied the facility on Tuesday morning, preventing staff from entering to protest the Aarhus City Council's decision to close the school.

The school, which opened in 2018, is scheduled to close at the end of 2026 due to health reforms requiring the municipality to transfer certain tasks and buildings to the region. While the occupation has ended due to the protesters feeling "tired and worn out," representatives stated that the fight to save the school continues and they will seek new methods to engage politicians.

Metin Lindved Aydin, the Aarhus municipal councilor for Health and Care, stated that there are no funds available for a similar offering for the next four years, though alternative services exist.
