Pentagon delays report on lethal Iranian school strike

The Pentagon has reportedly delayed the release of an internal investigation regarding a lethal U.S. missile strike on a school in Minab, Iran. According to Bloomberg, the decision to postpone the report until after the November U.S. congressional elections was reportedly communicated by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The strike, which occurred on February 28 using Tomahawk missiles, resulted in more than 150 deaths, including over 120 young girls. Preliminary findings suggest the incident may be one of the most significant failures in recent U.S. military interventions.

Investigations indicate the tragedy was caused by a combination of faulty intelligence, outdated satellite imagery, and an over-reliance on artificial intelligence for target selection. Specifically, outdated imagery failed to show a wall that had been constructed to separate the school from a nearby Iranian Revolutionary Guard base.

More than 70 Democratic members of Congress and senators have called on Secretary Hegseth for explanations regarding civilian casualties from U.S. operations in Iran. Congress is also considering legislation to mandate that the Pentagon submit final reports on such incidents.
