Pentagon employees damage Eisenhower's historic globe
Pentagon employees accidentally damaged a historic 1930s globe previously owned by President Dwight D. Eisenhower while attempting to move it for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The incident, which occurred in February and was recently uncovered by the Washington Post, happened when the globe detached from its axis during transport. As it fell, the stand's base punctured the sphere, creating a hole where Antarctica is located. The artifact was used by Eisenhower during World War II to plan military operations.
