Pentagon integrates secure ChatGPT and Grok AI models

The Pentagon has expanded its internal GenAI.mil platform by integrating secure, specialized versions of ChatGPT and Grok. These new tools, named ‘ChatGPT Mil’ and ‘Grok for Government’, join the ‘Gemini for Government’ model developed by Google Cloud, which was integrated late in 2025.

The platform is a restricted military infrastructure designed for approximately three million military personnel, civilians, and defense contractors, with roughly 1.7 million active users currently. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has instructed employees to integrate these AI tools into their daily operational methods to maintain a strategic advantage over adversaries.
