Department of War issues legal waiver for UAP information disclosure

The Department of War has issued a legal waiver allowing current and former military personnel, civilians, and contractors to disclose classified information regarding Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) without facing legal or administrative penalties.

The waiver provides a protected pathway for individuals to report National Defense Information (NDI) related to UAPs to the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE). This mechanism explicitly overrides existing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and Special Access Program Indoctrination Agreements (SAPIAs) for those using the authorized PURSUE channel.

This policy is intended to facilitate the review and potential declassification of UAP-related documents, aligning with a mandate for increased transparency from the Trump administration. The move builds upon a July directive that encouraged former employees to share knowledge with either PURSUE or the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). Under the new rules, participants are protected from security clearance revocation and other punishments typically associated with breaching secrecy oaths.
