Pentagon releases UFO files describing potato‑shaped object and glowing orbs

The Pentagon made public 72 previously classified reports on unidentified anomalous phenomena, the third batch released after a presidential directive for full disclosure. The documents do not contain conclusive proof of extraterrestrial life or government cover‑ups, but they detail recent sightings.

One report from February 2022 involves five U.S. Army soldiers at Fort Carson who observed a hovering object over Cheyenne Mountain near Colorado Springs. The account describes the craft as “potato‑shaped with distinct edges,” coated in a “creamy/whitish opalescent” surface and “articulating fish‑scale panels.” It remained motionless for about two minutes before vanishing. Analysts assigned low confidence to a hypothesis that back‑scattered sunlight off mountain snow could have created the illusion.

Other entries note an orange disc emitting beams of light, a bright red orb seen in October 2023 by federal law‑enforcement agents that spawned smaller red orbs, and a “brilliant and beautiful” red sphere reported from an undisclosed location in the Northeastern United States. The Pentagon’s All‑domain Anomaly Resolution Office suggests possible explanations such as military exercises, flares, or testing of developmental U.S. technology, but no definitive cause has been identified. No video or photographic evidence accompanies any of the sightings.
