Pentagon UFO Files Reveal WWII German 'Foo Fighter' Sightings

Declassified Pentagon documents released after 80 years detail Allied pilots' reports of luminous aerial phenomena over Germany and France in the final months of World War II. The reports describe red, green, orange and amber lights that flew in formation with aircraft, performed evasive maneuvers and approached within about 30 metres. A notable incident on 22 December 1944 involved two lights that rose from the ground, followed a night‑fighter squadron’s plane for two minutes and then departed, with ground radar confirming no enemy aircraft were present. Pilots also observed a 3.6‑metre aluminium cylinder at roughly 2,700 metres altitude that, when fired upon, partially disintegrated and emitted a red glow; it was later classified as a probable German flak bomb.

The British Air Ministry’s secret 1945 memorandum concluded the phenomenon remained an enigma, while historical FBI files from the 1940s‑1950s mention alleged German disc‑shaped aircraft development projects. No definitive explanation for the “Foo Fighters” has been found.
