Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria backs Catholic bishops on national security

Bishop Wale Oke, National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), has declared that any attack on the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) constitutes an attack on the entire Christian community. This stance follows recent comments made by Cardinal John Onaiyekan during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, where Catholic bishops stated that “Nigeria is bleeding” due to widespread insecurity.

Bishop Oke defended the bishops' right to address violence in regions such as Benue, Southern Kaduna, Borno, Kwara, and Oyo, arguing that speaking truth to leadership is a moral duty rather than a political maneuver. He emphasized the unity of the Church across denominations in the face of national crises.

Additionally, the PFN leader voiced strong opposition to proposed amendments to the Federal Road Safety Corps Act that would impose fines on religious preaching in commercial buses. Oke stated the PFN would defy such regulations, asserting a commitment to religious expression over man-made laws.
