Penthouse Night Club Instagram removed after political sign

The Penthouse Night Club in Vancouver had its Instagram account removed following a social media post featuring a political marquee sign. The sign, updated by Ben Jackson, mocked U.S. President Donald Trump regarding his proposed renaming of Lake Ontario during trade negotiations with Canada.

The marquee message read, “Can’t handle a pool, but wants our lake?”, referencing both the Lake Ontario dispute and a previous controversy involving the algae-filled Washington reflecting pool. Club owner Danny Filippone noted that the account was wiped out around midnight, approximately six hours after the sign was displayed.

While the sign received positive reactions from local drivers, the club's Instagram account, @Penthouse47, remained offline following the post, which included the caption “Make Lakes Ontario Again.”
