A ranking of Canadian hockey arenas based on 2026 Google Maps data has placed Penticton’s South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) as the 10th best arena in the country. The analysis, conducted by PlayNowCasino.com, evaluated 55 arenas hosting NHL, AHL, PWHL, and major junior hockey teams that maintained at least 300 reviews.

In contrast, Kelowna’s Prospera Place was ranked as the sixth worst arena in Canada. Reviewers cited issues such as limited washrooms and difficulties entering or exiting seats due to players and personnel on the ice. The report noted that low-ranking venues often struggle with basics like seating, concession lines, and parking rather than the quality of hockey.

The SOEC, which opened in 2008 and hosts the Penticton Vees, was praised by users for its cleanliness and friendly staff. It is one of only two British Columbia venues to appear on the top 10 list, alongside the Langley Events Centre. Three of the ten worst-ranked venues are located in British Columbia, including Vancouver, Victoria, and Kelowna.
