Penticton breaks ground on new $37M fire department headquarters

Ground broke on October 1 for the new Penticton Fire Department headquarters, a $37 million project aimed at replacing the city’s aging fire hall infrastructure. The new facility will be located at 285 Dawson Ave. on the site of the current Fire Hall No. 2, which has been in use since 1967.

The 26,000-square-foot headquarters will feature a four-storey structural steel frame hose tower, administration offices, training spaces, four tandem fire apparatus bays, and eight dormitories to support firefighters on 24-hour shifts. Construction is expected to take approximately two years.

As part of the project, $1 million has been allocated to upgrade the existing Nanaimo Avenue facility, which will be repurposed as a satellite station and emergency operations centre.
