Penticton opens 81 new child care spaces at YMCA centre

The city of Penticton has opened 81 new child care spaces at the Power Street YMCA Child Care Centre, marking a significant step toward its municipal goal. The new facility, which serves infants through children up to 12 years old, was supported by a $3.9 million grant from the British Columbia government.

This opening brings the total number of new child care spots added in Penticton to 521 since 2021. The city has now reached 70 per cent of its target to add 722 new spaces by 2030, a plan originally endorsed by the Penticton City Council in 2021. The centre is operated by the YMCA of the Southern Interior.
