Penticton ranked as top Canadian city on global travel list
Penticton, British Columbia, has been named the top Canadian city on a new global travel list released by Skyscanner. The city placed fifth overall among the world's most-searched destinations, reflecting a 137 per cent year-over-year increase in travel searches.
Penticton is one of only two Canadian cities to appear on the list, alongside Tofino on Vancouver Island. The ranking places the South Okanagan destination alongside international locations such as Cardiff, Wales, and Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
Kevin Pearce, executive director at Visit Penticton, noted the city's diverse appeal, which includes wineries, lake views, and outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and water sports. The city is known for its proximity to 88 wineries and was previously named Canada’s Craft Beer Capital by Lonely Planet.
