Penticton Vees alumni secure spots on NHL opening night rosters

Three former defencemen from the Penticton Vees BCHL franchise have secured spots on NHL rosters for the 2026-27 season. The alumni include Mike Reilly of the Carolina Hurricanes, Dante Fabbro of the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Troy Stecher of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

All three players are former Fred Page Cup champions. Fabbro, a former first-round draft pick, begins the season on the injured reserve for Columbus. Reilly and Stecher were teammates during the Vees’ 2011-12 season, a campaign in which the team achieved a record 42 consecutive regular-season wins and secured the Fred Page Cup, Doyle Cup, and RBC Cup.
