People Power Party Chungnam branch proposes debate on Farmland Act

The People Power Party Chungnam Provincial Party has officially proposed a ‘1:1 public debate’ to National Assembly member Eo Gi-gu regarding recent amendments to the Farmland Act. The proposal was sent via certified mail on the 12th.

The provincial party expressed concerns over the amendment passed by the National Assembly on May 7, specifically regarding the mandatory compulsory disposal orders for farmland. They argue that these measures could lead to violations of property rights and cause administrative confusion within the agricultural sector.

While acknowledging the legislative intent to prevent speculative ownership and improper use of farmland, the party emphasized the need for institutional safeguards to protect the rights and stable farming activities of legitimate agricultural workers. Proposed debate topics include the main issues of the amendment, the direction of the compulsory disposal system, and development plans for agriculture and rural areas in Chungnam and Dangjin.
