People Power Party confirms primary candidates for nine regional committee chairs

The People Power Party's Organizational Strengthening Special Committee has finalized the candidates and regions for upcoming organizational committee chair primary elections. The committee decided to hold primaries in nine regions across South Korea where multiple candidates are competing, following a review of documents, interviews, and local public opinion.

In Incheon's Seo-gu Eul district, former city councilors Kim Yu-gon and Shin Seong-young will face off in a head-to-head contest. In Anseong, former provincial councilor Kim Ui-beom and former Gyeonggi Provincial Council Vice Chairman Cheon Dong-hyeon are competing, with local discussions focusing on whether to pursue generational change or rely on political experience to rebuild the conservative base.

Other primary regions include Seoul (Dongdaemun-gap, Seongbuk-eul, Gwanak-gap), Gyeonggi (Namyangju-eul, Yongin-gap, Anseong), Chungbuk (Cheongju Seowon-gu), and Jeonbuk (Wanju, Jinan, Muju). Candidate registration and campaigning are scheduled to begin on October 1, with voting via mobile ARS set for October 6.
