People Power Party demands withdrawal of cabinet reshuffle

The People Power Party has intensified its criticism of President Lee Jae-myung’s recent cabinet reshuffle, calling it a “disastrous personnel appointment” and demanding a total withdrawal of the nominations.

Opposition leaders specifically targeted Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won over allegations of improper solicitation regarding clinical trials and family salary controversies. They also criticized Gender Equality and Family Minister nominee Yong Hye-in, citing her refusal to resign her proportional representative seat and past controversies regarding state subsidies. Additionally, the party challenged the nomination of Hong Ji-seon for Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, alleging that the selection represents a takeover of real estate policy by the Seongnam and Gyeonggi factions.

Party representatives have called for the complete dismantling of the presidential office’s personnel verification system, citing a decline in presidential approval ratings to 37.4%.
