People Power Party disputes President Lee's golf meetings amid constitutional reform push

Controversy is growing within South Korea's People Power Party regarding recent golf meetings between President Lee Jae-myung and several senior lawmakers. Critics within the party argue that the participation of prominent figures, including Yoon Jae-ok and Song Eon-seok, may have inadvertently fueled the President's push for constitutional amendments.

The People Power Party has characterized these meetings as a strategic attempt to recruit party members who support constitutional changes. Specifically, the party suggests the President is seeking to amend the constitution to allow for consecutive terms, which some members claim is an effort to secure political protection.

In response to the criticism, Yoon Jae-ok stated that the meeting was organized by the Blue House to facilitate dialogue between former and current National Assembly leaders and that constitutional discussions were not on the agenda at that time. Song Eon-seok added that the meeting was intended to open channels for communication during a period of intense political confrontation, noting that discussions were focused on regional integration rather than constitutional reform.
