People’s Bank sponsors Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Tournaments 2026

People’s Bank has announced its sponsorship of the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Tournaments 2026. Through a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association, the state-owned financial institution will support the Under-13, Under-15, and Under-20 categories.

The initiative aims to nurture young talent and increase basketball participation across the country. The tournament is expected to involve approximately 1,950 student athletes, including roughly 80 boys’ teams and 50 girls’ teams from more than 120 schools nationwide. To complement the financial backing, the bank will also launch a communication programme designed to popularize the sport among schoolchildren.
