Peoples Democratic Party advances 2027 election preparations in Nigeria

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advanced its preparations for the 2027 general elections in Nigeria through candidate selections and priority outlining in Kogi and Taraba states.

In Kogi State, Hon. David Idris Zacharias, a two-term member of the House of Representatives, emerged as the PDP candidate for the Idah Federal Constituency. Zacharias secured 388 votes during a rescheduled primary held across the Idah, Ibaji, Ofu, and Igalamela/Odolu local government areas. The primary followed the voluntary withdrawal of the previous candidate, Hon. Paul Ukwenya.

In Taraba State, PDP candidates Dr. Jesse Adi Ashumate and TPL Mukhtar Usman Galadima have outlined their legislative agendas. Ashumate, running for the Taraba South Senatorial District, intends to focus on youth empowerment through agriculture, entrepreneurship, and community peace-building. Galadima, contesting for the Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, has prioritized healthcare, infrastructure completion—specifically the Ibi Bridge—and women’s empowerment.
