People's Party demands N-340 highway improvements in Cádiz

The People's Party (PP) is demanding urgent government action to improve road infrastructure in the province of Cádiz, specifically calling for the doubling of the N-340 highway between Vejer and Tarifa. Elías Bendodo, the PP's Vice Secretary for Autonomous and Local Policy, described the lack of progress on this stretch as “unjustifiable,” noting it is the only section of the N-340 from Cádiz to Barcelona that has not been expanded.

Concerns regarding road conditions are mounting in Andalusia. Reports highlight significant deterioration on various routes, including the A-49 highway between Huelva and the Portuguese border, which is described as having potholes and damaged signage. These infrastructure issues are cited as having negative impacts on road safety, tourism, employment, and the economic growth of the region, particularly during the high-traffic summer months and the ‘Operación Paso del Estrecho’ ferry operations.
