People's Party investigates 72,000 euro eclipse event cost

The People's Party (PP) has launched an inquiry into the Spanish government regarding the costs and management of an official event held during a recent solar eclipse. The event, which took place at the Yebes Observatory in Guadalajara, reportedly cost 72,358 euros.

In a series of formal requests to Congress, the opposition party is seeking clarification on which authority within the Ministry of Transport or the National Geographic Institute authorized the use of the observatory for the institutional act. Additionally, the PP is questioning the decision to close the observatory to the general public during the event, demanding to know the technical, organizational, or security reasons that justified the closure.

Public calls for transparency have also emerged, with citizens demanding explanations regarding the decision-making process and the lack of communication surrounding the facility's closure.
