People's Party opposes tax increases and budget allocations in Berriozar and Vigo

The People's Party (PP) has voiced opposition to proposed fiscal measures and budget allocations in the Spanish municipalities of Berriozar and Vigo.

In Berriozar, the PP rejected a proposal by EH Bildu to increase municipal fees and public prices starting in 2027. The EH Bildu plan includes a general 5% increase, with specific hikes of up to 7% for the Municipal Music School and 9% for business incubator spaces. The PP has proposed an alternative plan to freeze all municipal rates and implement tax reductions for families, freelancers, and businesses.

In Vigo, the PP criticized the 2027 municipal budget proposal, labeling it “deceiving” and “lacking ambition.” Local party president Luisa Sánchez argued that the budget fails to adequately address housing access and the rising cost of living. The PP intends to file allegations to increase funding for the Municipal Housing Company, which they described as “underfunded,” and to utilize municipal surpluses to provide tax relief for households.
