People’s Progressive Party joins Gambia First Coalition

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has confirmed it will join a new political alliance called the “Gambia First Coalition” ahead of upcoming elections in The Gambia. The party intends to sign a memorandum of understanding on the 14th with five other opposition parties: the Alliance for Democracy and Development, the Gambia National Alliance, the Gambia for All Progress Party, the United Democratic Party, and the People’s Alliance Party.

Kebba Nanko, the PPP’s director of policy, implementation, media, and communications, stated that the move follows internal discussions and aims to unify the opposition. The memorandum will be presented to the party’s national executive committee for ratification before a formal agreement is signed to establish a unified election platform.
