People’s Redemption Party denies banditry links to Shehu Buba

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has officially rejected allegations linking its Bauchi State governorship candidate, Senator Shehu Buba, to banditry and kidnapping activities. In a statement issued by National Publicity Secretary Muhammed Ishaq, the party characterized the claims as false, mischievous, and part of a deliberate campaign to tarnish Buba’s reputation ahead of the 2027 elections.

The PRP asserted that the allegations are politically motivated, driven by opponents who feel threatened by the senator’s growing popularity in Bauchi State. The party challenged anyone possessing credible evidence of criminal activity to present it to the appropriate legal authorities for investigation rather than engaging in a campaign of calumny.

Furthermore, the party cited Section 127(c) of the Electoral Act, which criminalizes the publication of false statements intended to prejudice a candidate’s electoral prospects. The PRP reaffirmed its full support for Senator Buba, describing him as a citizen dedicated to addressing insecurity in Nigeria.
