Pep Guardiola calls for action at European BDS conference

Spanish football manager Pep Guardiola has issued a call to action via Instagram, urging supporters to participate in the upcoming European regional conference of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The conference is scheduled to take place in Barcelona from November 18 to 20.

Guardiola emphasized the necessity of transforming solidarity with the Palestinian people into practical steps to confront injustice. He noted that the BDS movement, established in 2005 and inspired by the struggle against apartheid in South Africa, seeks to use economic, cultural, and academic pressure to end the occupation, achieve equality, and ensure the right of return for Palestinian refugees.

In his message, Guardiola stated, “Genocide does not stop on its own, and peace is not achieved on its own,” arguing against passive observation of the humanitarian crisis. The Barcelona event is expected to convene activists, academics, artists, journalists, and legal experts from across Europe and beyond to develop strategies for international solidarity and Palestinian rights.
