Pep Guardiola departs Manchester City after ten-year tenure

Pep Guardiola confirmed his departure from Manchester City on 22 May, ending a decade at the English club. The announcement was accompanied by images of movers clearing his Etihad‑area home the same day, and reports that he plans to purchase a new residence in Barcelona worth over €15 million.

Guardiola’s final match in charge was the Premier League fixture against Aston Villa on 24 May, which City lost 2‑1. He was not in the starting line‑up, and Belgian winger Jérémy Doku, who joined City in August 2023, posted a tribute on social media, calling their three seasons together “unforgettable” and thanking Guardiola for the lessons, trophies, and memories.

The departure marks the end of a period in which Guardiola secured six league titles and led City to its first Champions League final in 2023. He has indicated he will take a break from coaching after leaving the Sky Blues.
