Pepe sparks debate with Real Madrid player comparisons

Former Real Madrid defender Pepe has sparked debate among fans after participating in a comparison challenge between the club’s 2016 squad and the current generation.

In several head-to-head matchups, Pepe opted for current players over club legends. Most notably, he chose Jude Bellingham over Luka Modrić in midfield, and Vinícius Júnior over Cristiano Ronaldo. Other selections included Kylian Mbappé over Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde over Toni Kroos.

Due to the controversial nature of these choices—particularly placing current stars ahead of historic icons like Ronaldo and Modrić—many fans have speculated that the former defender may have been joking or acting sarcastically during the challenge.
