Pepperstone appoints Nigel Fernandes as Chief Technology Officer
Melbourne-based fintech provider Pepperstone has announced the appointment of Nigel Fernandes as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective 1 October 2026. Fernandes, who previously served as SVP and Executive General Manager of Engineering at Xero, will lead the company’s global engineering, architecture, security, and data departments.
The appointment is part of Pepperstone’s strategic move to increase ownership of its proprietary technology. The company aims to build a broader fintech ecosystem that incorporates AI-native engineering, institutional-grade infrastructure, and expansion into cryptocurrency and new markets. Fernandes will report directly to Group CEO Tamas Szabo.
