Peppino di Capri honored for shaping Amalfi Coast nightlife

Italian singer Peppino di Capri and his band the Rockers were central figures of the summer music scene on the Amalfi Coast. Their iconic performances were anchored at the historic Castle Mezzacapo (also known as Miramare), which sits on the boundary between Maiori and Minori. From the castle’s terrace his voice carried across the sea to the Norman Tower and later echoed from the Saraceno terrace, now the five‑star Borgo Santandrea hotel.

Locals recall the evenings when his melodies sparked youthful romances and celebrations, many recalling shared glasses of champagne. With his passing, the coastal towns feel a noticeable silence, and residents mourn the loss of the entertainer who marked their summers for decades.
