Peppino di Capri remembered with illuminated villa on Capri

Italian singer Peppino di Capri (Giuseppe Faiella), who died on 11 July 2026 at age 86 after a six‑decade career, was honored on what would have been his 87th birthday. From 20:00 to 24:00 on 27 July, the historic Villa Monte Castiglione on the island of Capri was lit up and an audio system streamed his best‑known songs, allowing residents and visitors to celebrate his legacy.

The tribute was organised by his family and supported by Capri Mayor Paolo Falco, who noted that the artist had made the island known worldwide. Peppino di Capri held the record for fifteen participations in the Sanremo Music Festival, winning twice, and his music blended Neapolitan tradition with American rock and roll, making him a cultural ambassador for Italy.
