PepsiCo closes Maryland plant, cutting over 100 jobs
PepsiCo has shuttered its production and warehousing operations in Cheverly, Maryland, resulting in the loss of over 100 jobs. The facility, located in Prince George’s County, has served as a local landmark for more than 60 years.
As the largest employer and taxpayer for the town of Cheverly, which has approximately 6,000 residents, the closure presents significant economic challenges for the community. Local officials are currently working to mitigate the impact of the shutdown.
In a statement, PepsiCo Beverages U.S. described the decision to close the site as difficult, noting that the company must optimize its network in response to changing consumer demand, technology, and operational requirements.
