PepsiCo faces €140 million lawsuit over Cyprus factory claims
Greek Cypriot companies Cyprofruta and Cyprus Farming have filed a lawsuit in the Nicosia District Court seeking over €140 million in damages from PepsiCo and 11 other entities. The plaintiffs claim that a factory and its surrounding lands in Famagusta have been “occupied” and used without authorization since 1981.
The lawsuit alleges that the site has been used by Ektam Cyprus to produce Pepsi, Pepsi Max, 7UP, and Mirinda products. The legal action targets PepsiCo’s US headquarters, its Turkish subsidiaries, Ektam Cyprus executives, and several related companies, including Infima Holding (formerly Tamek Holding) and members of the Sipahioğlu family.
The plaintiffs are seeking approximately €9.15 million in rental fees for the period between 1981 and September 2026, alongside €135 million in compensation for loss of use and commercial profits. The claimants stated they approached the defendants with a formal notice in February 2026 to cease the use of the property, but the matter has now moved to court.
