Gatorade recall covers 122,000 cases across 37 states

PepsiCo has voluntarily recalled 122,021 cases of Gatorade distributed across 37 U.S. states due to undeclared food dyes. The recall involves 28-ounce bottles of four specific varieties: Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange, and Gatorade Orange Zero.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified the action as a Class II recall, noting that exposure may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, though the probability of serious consequences is considered remote. The undeclared additives are Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6. While these dyes are permitted in the U.S., they must be listed on product labels.

Potential health risks include allergic reactions such as hives, itching, or nasal congestion, particularly for individuals with sensitivities to aspirin. The affected products feature lot codes with best-by dates ranging from April through June 2027. Consumers are advised to check their products and return them to the place of purchase.
