Per Madsen, former mayor of Ishøj, dies at 96

Per Madsen, the long-serving Social Democratic mayor of Ishøj Municipality, has passed away at the age of 96. He served as mayor for 26 years, from 1974 to 2000.

Born in Bornholm in 1930, Madsen maintained a strong connection to the island throughout his life. His political legacy was also a family tradition; his mother, Hilda, was one of the first female elected officials in Rønne. His daughter, Annelise Madsen, continues the family's political involvement as a member of the Ishøj municipal council.

Madsen passed away on Wednesday following a single day of illness, according to his daughter.
