Perak headmaster investigated for alleged sexual harassment of student
A 56-year-old school headmaster in Bagan Datuk, Perak, is under investigation following allegations that he sent inappropriate romantic messages, including “I love you,” to a 15-year-old female student.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek has ordered the Perak Education Department to conduct a formal inquiry. As an interim measure, the headmaster has been transferred to the Bagan Datuk District Education Office.
The situation escalated after a video went viral on social media showing the student's mother confronting and physically striking the headmaster in his office. Consequently, both parties have filed police reports.
Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin stated that the investigation into the headmaster is being conducted under Section 15(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. Simultaneously, the headmaster's report regarding the alleged assault by the student's family is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Police have recorded statements from nine individuals to assist with the ongoing probe.
