Peravia inaugurates first Special Education School

Senator Julito Fulcar has inaugurated the Profesor Bienvenido Armando Peña Arias Special Education School in Peravia. This marks the first specialized educational center of its kind in the province.

The facility is expected to benefit approximately 200 children with special educational needs. The school features seven classrooms and is designed to provide services adapted to the specific rhythms, capacities, and requirements of its students to promote their integral development and safety.

To facilitate the opening, Senator Fulcar utilized resources from the Senatorial Office to remodel and condition the building, which had reportedly remained closed for approximately ten years. The school is scheduled to begin formal instruction on Monday, August 24, in accordance with the 2026-2027 school calendar. Lucía Vásquez, the Director of Special Education for the Ministry of Education, noted that the center is prepared to receive children starting from two years of age.
