Perez Hilton receives inpatient treatment after mental health crisis
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, born Mario Lavandeira, is currently receiving inpatient medical and mental health treatment following a crisis on August 4. The incident occurred after Hilton appeared to livestream acts of self-harm on TikTok from his home in Miami, Florida.
According to police reports from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders treated Hilton at the scene for multiple lacerations and an overdose before transporting him to a hospital. His sister, Barbara Lavandeira, reported that he had expressed feelings of hopelessness and being a burden in the week preceding the event. Hilton was subsequently held under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows for involuntary stabilization when an individual poses a danger to themselves or others.
His family released a statement confirming that while his condition was previously described as “serious but stable” due to significant blood loss and the need for surgery, he is now under the care of a dedicated medical team. To maintain his professional presence during his recovery, his team announced they will begin updating his official website, PerezHilton.com, starting this week.
