Perindo Cup 2026 football tournament begins in West Kalimantan

The Perindo Cup 2026 football tournament has officially commenced in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Organized by the DPW Partai Perindo West Kalimantan, the event features 72 football clubs representing 14 regencies and cities across the province.

Opened on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Sultan Syarif Abdurahman Stadium in Pontianak, the tournament aims to identify and nurture young local talent for national and international sporting stages. The event is also held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.

Yulius Aho, Chairman of DPW Partai Perindo West Kalimantan, emphasized that the tournament focuses on fostering sportsmanship and social solidarity rather than just competition results. The opening ceremony was attended by Sugeng Hariadi, Head of the West Kalimantan Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office, and Darmianus Yordan from the West Kalimantan National Sports Committee (KONI).
