Perlis begins RM20 million ESR Dragway development in Chuping

The Perlis state government has commenced the development of the ESR Dragway Perlis in Chuping, a RM20 million motorsport project designed to create a professional and safe racing ecosystem. The project is a strategic collaboration between Perlis Holdings Sdn Bhd (PHSB), a subsidiary of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) Perlis, and ESR Motor.

Spanning approximately 30 acres, the facility will feature a 1.3-kilometer straight track and is expected to be completed within two years. Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah stated that the track aims to nurture local talent in various roles, including racers, mechanics, technicians, engineers, and team managers. Additionally, the facility is intended to provide a controlled alternative to illegal street racing.

The development is also expected to boost sports tourism in the region. Due to Perlis's proximity to the Thai border, officials hope to attract motorsport enthusiasts from other Malaysian states and neighboring Thailand, benefiting local hospitality sectors such as hotels and restaurants.
