Pernambuco delivers 124 new police vehicles to PMPE
The Pernambuco Social Defense Secretariat (SDS) has delivered 124 new SUV vehicles to the Military Police of Pernambuco (PMPE) to strengthen public security efforts. The delivery, which took place during a ceremony at the General Command Headquarters, represents an annual investment of R$ 9,284,584.32.
Of the new vehicles, 55 will be deployed in the Metropolitan Region, while 69 will serve the state's interior. This initiative is part of a broader fleet renewal program; between January 2023 and August 2026, the PMPE fleet is expected to be 100% renewed, increasing the total number of leased vehicles from 1,387 to 1,922.
Social Defense Secretary Alessandro Carvalho stated that the renewal provides more officers and vehicles on the streets 24 hours a day. PMPE General Commander Colonel Ivanildo Torres noted that the new SUVs are intended to improve officer working conditions and increase response efficiency in both urban and rural areas.
