Pernambuco records eight homicides in 24 hours

Pernambuco recorded eight homicides within a 24-hour period on Wednesday, October 14, bringing the total number of violent deaths in the state to 2,218 for the year 2026. Of the recent killings, five occurred in the state's interior and three took place in the Recife Metropolitan Region.

In a related development, police arrested Enildo Manoel in Toritama for the June homicide of his brother, José Paulo da Silva. The victim was killed with a knife in the rural area of Catende. The suspect was taken to the Santa Cruz do Capibaribe police station and is scheduled for a custody hearing.

Additionally, a traffic accident in Belém de Maria resulted in the death of a woman and injured a child.
