Pernambuco rivers reach alert levels amid flood risks

The Pernambucan Agency for Water and Climate (Apac) has issued a hydrological alert for the state of Pernambuco after three rivers—the Ipojuca, Jaboatão, and Duas Unas—reached alert levels. Municipalities including Moreno, Primavera, Escada, and Jaboatão dos Guararapes are under watch due to potential flooding.

Heavy rainfall has already been recorded, with Palmares receiving 92.4 mm and Moreno receiving 89.7 mm over a 24-hour period. Flooding was reported on a section of the BR-232 highway in the Moreno district. While light rain is expected in the Greater Recife area during the September 7 holiday, the Agreste and Sertão regions are forecast to remain clear.
