Pernambuco upgrades Procape cardiac hospital with new hemodynamics suites

Vice-governor Priscila Krause, representing Governor Raquel Lyra, inaugurated rooms A and B of the hemodynamics center at the University Cardiac Emergency Hospital (Procape) in Pernambuco on 26 June, marking the institution’s 20‑year anniversary. The modernization, funded by more than R$8.4 million in equipment and refurbishment, is part of a broader R$53 million state investment to upgrade the hospital’s technology and build an adjoining annex.

The new equipment, costing about R$7.74 million and financed through a partnership among the National Health Fund, the Ministry of Health and the State University of Pernambuco, will double procedural capacity, bringing the total to three hemodynamics rooms operating 24 hours a day. The expansion also includes plans for an additional 50 ICU beds and 88 ward beds in the new annex, aiming to strengthen cardiac care for the state’s public health system.
