Festival Pernambuco Meu País draws 40,000 visitors to Pesqueira, boosting economy
The opening of the itinerant Festival Pernambuco Meu País took place on Saturday night in Pesqueira, Agreste region of Pernambuco. Organized by the state government, the free program expects more than 40,000 attendees and an economic impact of roughly R$ 7 million over its five‑day run. Governor Raquel Lyra praised the event, saying, “It is very symbolic to start the festival in Pesqueira, a municipality that strongly represents our cultural identity.” The festival offers concerts, theater, dance, circus, literature, artisan fairs and workshops, with performances by artists such as Joyce Alane, Waldonys and Dorgival Dantas. After Pesqueira, the route will continue to Salgueiro, Gravatá, Arcoverde, Bezerros, Serra Negra, Buíque and Caruaru.
The event is part of the broader “Inverno Curitiba 2026” cultural calendar, which also includes separate winter activities in Curitiba, but the Pernambuco festival is a distinct, multi‑city initiative focused on regional tourism and creative economy.
