Pernilla Yasin debuts with crime novel 'Bortom lagens gränser

Pernilla Yasin has released her debut crime novel, "Bortom lagens gränser" (Beyond the Law's Boundaries), published by Modernista. The book is the first installment in the "Öresundssviten" series.

Set primarily in Malmö, with locations extending to Staffanstorp and the Blekinge archipelago, the plot follows a duo consisting of a police officer named Lise and her granddaughter Josefine, an emergency doctor. They attempt to locate a young woman who has disappeared without a trace.

Critical reviews highlight that while the novel touches on contemporary themes such as gang criminality and recruitment of children by gangs, its strongest element is the focus on domestic violence and the inclusion of children's perspectives regarding the loss of security and the impact of institutional decisions.
